Uber Tristram (Pandemonium)

01Overview

Uber Tristram is the classic pinnacle fight: Uber Mephisto, Uber Diablo and Uber Baal together in a burning Tristram. The last of them to die drops a Hellfire Torch and a Black Soulstone, the Diablo Clone ingredient you cannot get anywhere else.
It is a step up from the mini ubers: three bosses at monster level 120, two auras or curses that strip your resistances, and no pre-buffs when you enter.

02Opening Uber Tristram

Cube the three organs from the mini ubers, Mephisto's Brain, Diablo's Horn and Baal's Eye, into a Pandemonium Talisman. Use the Talisman at the Blood Fountain in Harrogath; the portal opens for every player nearby.
  • Buffs are removed when you enter, so recast them inside.
  • When you first enter, three single-use portals appear in town: one first attempt plus three re-entries.
  • The bosses inside do not regenerate, so damage you deal before a death stays.
  • One uber zone or map per game.

03The three prime evils

BossWhat makes it dangerousWhat it does
Uber MephistoA Conviction aura that lowers your resistances by 50%Lightning, poison nova, cold missiles, Frost Nova and Blizzard
Uber DiabloArmageddon and a lightning hose that hits hardFire nova, Firestorm, Charge and Bone Prison
Uber BaalA strong Lower Resist curse (-75% resistances for about 25 seconds)Nova, Inferno, tentacles, cold missiles, Teleport and a mana-draining attack
All three are monster level 120 with 40% physical and magic resistance and 60% fire, cold, lightning and poison resistance. PD2 gave them 10% more life and 25% less defense than the original game.

04How to win

  • Kill Mephisto first. His Conviction lowers your resistances for as long as he is alive, which makes Diablo's and Baal's elemental damage far more dangerous. Pull him away from the others if you can.
  • Overcap your resistances. 75% is not enough when Conviction or Lower Resist is on you. Every point of resistance above the cap is what keeps you alive here; Annihilus, resistance charms and swap gear all help.
  • Separate the bosses. Fighting all three at once is how characters die. Lure one at a time out of the group and fight it alone.
  • Plan the re-entries. If you die, take one of the re-entry portals in town back in; the bosses keep their missing life. Minions that keep tanking while you return make a big difference.
  • Bring potions. Full rejuvenation potions in the belt are the panic button against a Lower Resist plus Armageddon combination.

Builds that do it well

Builds that handle Uber Tristram on accessible gear include the Summon Amazon (Valkyrie and Decoys tank for you), Blade Sentinel Assassin, Holy Bolt / Fist of the Heavens Paladin and Meteor Sorceress. Summoners and builds with strong single-target damage have the easiest time; pure screen-clearing mappers often trade their organs instead.

05Rewards

The last prime evil you kill drops both rewards:
Uber Tristram no longer drops the Standard of Heroes; that comes from the Uber Ancients now. A Demonic Cube rerolls a Torch's stats within their ranges.
