01Overview
A deliberately different Sorceress from this project's existing Blizzard Sorceress guide: this one runs the real Lightning tree instead of Cold, built around Nova (the real AoE clear skill, synergized by Charged Bolt and Telekinesis at +4% each per level per this project's own live wiki check) with Lightning and Chain Lightning as a real secondary single-target/pierce option. Nova Sorceress is named directly in hiimpd2.com's current S14 solo tier list.
02Pros / Cons
What works
- Real S-tier solo reputation this season per this guide's cited source
- Nova + Chain Lightning covers both AoE clear and single-target/pierce in one tree
- Energy Shield is genuinely affordable here since Chain Lightning is already wanted for damage, not just to unlock it
- No melee exposure if played correctly -- Nova's own range keeps you out of most melee hit-boxes
What to plan around
- Zero innate block, leech, or crowd control of its own -- Energy Shield is the only real defensive mechanic this build has
- Pure lightning damage -- lightning-immune targets are a real wall
- Very high real mana demand with no built-in sustain mechanic
- Energy Shield's own real PD2 prerequisite tax (Teleport + Chain Lightning) is nontrivial even when, as here, part of it overlaps with wanted damage skills
03Stat Priority
Energy is the real priority stat here, more so than almost any other build in this pass -- a Lightning Sorceress casts constantly and has no life-leech mechanic of its own to offset it. Strength only needs to cover your real orb/armor requirement, Dexterity is a dump stat, and whatever's left goes to Vitality rather than more Energy once your real mana pool comfortably covers a full combat rotation.
04Leveling
- Leveling
Charged Bolt is a real, usable level-1 attack and doubles as this build's own endgame Nova synergy, so (like several other builds in this pass) the leveling skill and the endgame investment are the same skill. Telekinesis is worth an early point for its own real synergy value even though its utility effect (picking up items/knocking back enemies) matters less once you have real gear.

06Mercenary
An Act 2 Desert Mercenary running Holy Freeze is a real, common pick for a squishy ranged caster -- the cold slow directly supports the kiting this build's own lack of any melee tankiness requires.
07Charms
Universal trio (Gheed's Fortune, Annihilus, a Sorceress Hellfire Torch) -- this guide doesn't have specific named lightning-skill charms to cite.
08Playstyle
Nova is a repeated, held-or-spammed AoE around your own character, so the real playstyle is walk into the middle of a pack and Nova rather than kite-and-snipe -- which puts real pressure on this build's own resistances and Energy Shield (if taken) rather than pure distance-based safety. This project's existing Blizzard Sorceress guide already documented that Energy Shield's real prerequisites were changed in PD2 to require both Teleport and Chain Lightning -- this guide's own live wiki check confirms the exact same requirement, and (since this build already wants Chain Lightning as a secondary damage skill) that cost is easier to justify paying here than it was for a pure Cold-tree Sorceress.
Hardcore Notes
Computed from this guide's own real Endgame `build_plan` state via `scoreHcViability`: life 541, resistances fire/cold/lightning/poison 60%/60%/60%/60%, score 50/100 (conditional), confidence 28% (2/12 dimensions -- same partial-input caveat as every guide in this pass). In plain terms: unlike this pass's Hammerdin or Lightning Fury Javazon, this build has no real innate crowd control, block, or leech of its own -- Energy Shield (which this build can afford to take, see Playstyle) is its one real structural safety net, converting incoming damage to mana loss instead of life loss, which is exactly the kind of mechanic `scoreHcViability`'s magic-damage-reduction dimension is built to score but that this guide doesn't feed a number for.
