01Overview
A different Paladin from this project's existing Zeal/Vengeance 'Zealot' guide: Blessed Hammer is a ranged, magic-damage spell rather than a melee attack, so this build plays more like a Sorceress than the project's other Paladin guide. Its two real synergy skills (Blessed Aim and Vigor, each +12% magic damage per level per this project's own live wiki check) also happen to be full auras in their own right -- +Attack Rating/Deadly Strike from Blessed Aim and +Faster Run/Walk and Stamina from Vigor -- so a maxed Hammerdin is unusually tanky-feeling for a caster even before gear is counted.
02Pros / Cons
What works
- Ranged, so you rarely take melee hits if you kite correctly
- Vigor's own aura effect (Faster Run/Walk) is a real, always-on escape tool, not just a damage synergy
- Hammers now phase through walls/obstacles this season -- a real, meaningful quality-of-life buff
- High Faster Cast Rate breakpoints turn Blessed Hammer into one of the fastest real damage-per-second loops in the game
What to plan around
- Needs two real prerequisite skills (Holy Bolt + Holy Light) before Blessed Hammer even unlocks at 18
- Might mercenary (the 'default' Paladin merc choice on this project's Zealot guide) contributes nothing to this build's magic damage -- an easy real mistake
- Zero crowd control of its own; survival is entirely about kiting and Vigor's movement speed
- Mana-hungry at a real cast rate -- Energy investment or mana-leech/regen gear is not optional the way it is on most melee builds
03Stat Priority
Strength to whatever your actual weapon/shield combo needs (Blessed Hammer's own damage is magic and ignores your weapon entirely, so weapon choice is about Faster Cast Rate and +skills, not damage -- pick the lightest Strength-requirement option that gets you there). Energy is worth real points on this build, unlike most melee builds in this pass, since Hammer spam at a real cast rate burns mana fast; the rest goes to Vitality.
04Leveling
- Leveling
Holy Bolt is available from level 1 and doubles as real (if weak) undead-focused damage while you level toward Blessed Hammer's own level-18 requirement (which also needs Holy Light at level 12 as a second prerequisite -- a real, two-skill prerequisite chain, not just one). Put early points into Might (your aura while leveling) and Prayer/Defiance for survivability, then pivot hard into Blessed Hammer, Blessed Aim, and Vigor the moment all three unlock.

Spirit (Tal+Thul+Ort+Amn, on a 4-socket shield base) -- +2 skills/Faster Cast Rate/mana on a genuinely cheap real rune cost; the standard first real caster shield for nearly any class.
06Mercenary
A common real mistake: an Act 2 Might mercenary does nothing for this build's own damage, because Might is a physical-damage aura and Blessed Hammer deals magic damage. The actually useful Act 2 picks here are about survivability and utility instead -- Defiance for flat defense/physical damage reduction on you and the merc, or Holy Freeze for a cold-damage slow that buys you positioning room while you kite-and-hammer.
07Charms
Same universal trio as every other build in this pass (Gheed's Fortune, Annihilus, a class Hellfire Torch), plus any small charm with +skill/Faster Cast Rate if you find one -- this build cares about FCR breakpoints more than most physical builds do.
08Playstyle
Blessed Hammer's hammers travel outward from you and (per this project's own real Season 14 patch note) now phase through walls and obstacles, which meaningfully changes how you position compared to older seasons -- you can hammer through terrain you previously had to walk around. The real gameplay loop is run Concentration (or Vigor, if you'd rather have the movement speed and accept weaker Concentration uptime) as your active aura, walk into range, and hold down Blessed Hammer; there's no cast-and-wait rhythm the way Sorceress spells have.
Hardcore Notes
Computed from this guide's own real Endgame `build_plan` state via `scoreHcViability`: life 1003, resistances fire/cold/lightning/poison 90%/90%/90%/90%, score 69/100 (conditional), confidence 28% (2/12 dimensions -- same honest partial-input caveat as every guide in this pass: block chance, FHR, crowd-control coverage, mobility, leech/mana-dependency, mercenary reliance, and map-mod coverage are real `scoreHcViability` dimensions this guide doesn't feed, so they're excluded rather than guessed). In plain terms: this build's real Vigor investment doubles as both a Hammer-damage synergy and a genuine escape tool (sustained +Faster Run/Walk), which is a real, non-obvious hardcore safety net most of this pass's other builds don't have -- but Blessed Hammer itself has zero stun/freeze/knockback of its own, so a pack that closes distance before you can react is still a real threat.
